Doha: Al Sadd Football Club's new Portuguese coach has said he will not look for new recruits since the club has quality players.

Newly appointed coach Jesualdo Ferreira said, "Al Sadd has quality players and we won’t be looking at new players." The 69-year-old former Zamalek coach has replaces Hussein Amute who handled Al Sadd for the last three years. Earlier he served as assistant manager for the Portuguese national team in the 1990s, and manager for the under-21 national team until the 1999–00 season.

Speaking to media on his arrival, he reiterated his commitment to help Al Sadd win more titles.

"Al Sadd is a new challenge for me. I hope I can lead the side to more wins and we return to the top in Qatar Stars League (QSL). That will be our goal," he said.

"I will need everyone's support as we look to the future," Ferreira said.

The new coach praised Qatar’s preparation to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. "I have seen the work going on at Khalifa International Stadium which will be a masterpiece of a sports venue when completed," he said.
Ferreira said he expected Qatar to be ready much before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

"I would urge the fans to stand behind this great team and the players to focus on playing well and giving their best," he said.
