DOHA: Thanks to the generosity of two Qatari citizens two children from Egypt and Pakistan have regained their hearing. The beneficiaries are a 17-year-old Egyptian girl and a three-year-old Pakistani boy.

Eid Charity Association organised the sponsoring of these two patients that travelled to Doha with their families to be treated by Dr Mazen Al Hajeri.

The girl’s treatment, accommodation and travel expenses was QR200,000. Her name is Rania and her parents discovered she had hearing problems shortly after she was born. At that point, doctors suggested an operation to plant a shell into her ear in order to improve her hearing. However, the operation was too expensive for the family to afford.

Eid Charity decided to take care of the girl’s surgery and associated costs thanks to a private donation from a Qatari contributor. Dr Al Hajeri performed a successful operation in Doha.

The Pakistani child was also born deaf. His surgery and other expenses were also covered by a private donor who contributed the QR80,000. The boy’s family met the Qatari doctor through relatives. The Peninsula
