Kahramaa sets roadmap to meet water, power challenges

DOHA: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) held the annual Business Planning Forum under the theme ‘Transformation Towards Business Excellence’ to discuss challenges and opportunities as it aspires to maintain the highest quality standards, according to a statement. 
The forum chaired by President Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari reviewed departments’ plans and projects for 2015-2019.
The two-day meeting attended by directors, mangers and head of sections, also reviewed performance in 2014. It sets a roadmap to meet electricity water challenges within the development Qatar is witnessing and achieve business excellence through strategic transformation. 
Al Kuwari hailed achievements and financial and technical performance in 2014 where Kahramaa met electricity and water demand as per the highest international quality standards.
Al Kuwari said: “The forum comes within challenges the electricity and water sector meets. Kahramaa has to be ready to transform them into opportunities through long-term planning to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
“The theme of the forum is aligned with Kahramaa’s strategic management system enhancement. Phase I has been completed and phase II is in progress.”
Kahramaa started strategic development at the beginning of 2014 by approving the new update of its mission, vision and values. Kahramaa has set strategies and objectives to achieve in the coming five years and a roadmap until 2030. The plan 2015-2019 includes a giant water reservoirs to increase strategic storage, and Phase VII of electricity network expansion. 
Kahramaa plans to transform into smart corporation by 2015-2016. The next year will witness the construction of the first solar plant on Kahramaa premises, followed by other plants to also protect the environment.
