Action from the first day of the Qatar Optimist Cup 2014 at Katara’s Cultural Village in Doha yesterday. No races took place yesterday. The Race Officer started the first race of the championships in light winds. However, due to shifty winds and wind further slowing down, the race was abandoned. Later after a couple of starts he cancelled the race. Today the races will start at 10am and three races will be held as scheduled. The six-day event will end on January 2. Around 32 sailors from eleven countries are competing in 12 races. The event is open for competitors born in 1999 or after and is organised by Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) in cooperation with Doha Sailing Club.
