Officials from the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and selected students attend a briefing on the Umrah programme.
Doha, Qatar: Represented by the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, is organising an Umrah trip for twenty outstanding Qatari students from private schools.
This initiative comes within the framework of cooperation and integration among various ministries and reflects the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ awareness of its role toward the younger generation.
An introductory meeting about the programme was held, along with honouring the outstanding students, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Omar Al-Naama and Director of the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri. This was followed by another briefing session detailing the programme, during which the objectives and daily activities were explained to the students. Parents were also contacted and kept informed on an ongoing basis about the procedures related to the programme and all associated matters.
Al-Naama expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Awqaf for its cooperation and tireless efforts in organising the programme.
He noted that the ministry places its trust in the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center to implement an integrated educational and recreational programme that serves as an incentive for students to strive and excel.
Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Marri explained that this step comes in support of the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Awqaf and the Ministry of Education in a manner that benefits and serves the interests of society.
He emphasised the importance of caring for young people and students and instilling sound Islamic values in them, noting that the students’ excellence—ranging from memorisation of the Holy Quran to academic achievement and active participation in school activities—is clear evidence of parental care, attention, and encouragement.
The programme, its content, and its various details were also introduced. It includes performing Umrah, field visits to various sites that reflect the Prophetic biography and instil educational values, in addition to delivering motivational talks and providing training in life skills.
