HMC wins three Arab health awards

DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has won three awards at the seventh Arab Health Innovation and Achievement Awards in Dubai. 
The awards honour exceptional healthcare professionals in the Middle East and the 2014 winners were named on Tuesday at a gala ceremony at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The awards were celebrated during the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress, the largest healthcare event in the region, which ends today. 
Nine awards were presented to highlight the region’s growth and achievements in the healthcare field with Saudi Arabia and Qatar emerging as the front-runners taking home seven awards.
The Excellence in Radiology Award went to the Radiology Department at HMC, the Excellence in Patient Centred Care Award was given to Cancer Transformation Team, HMC, the Cleveland Clinic Young Clinician Award was given to Dr Ibrahim M Fawzy Hassan at Hamad General Hospital. 
The judging panel comprised internationally recognised experts from related sectors and disciplines. 
“The awards aim at recognising accomplishments of healthcare professionals who continue to contribute to the development of the Middle East healthcare system and standards, and help create consistently reliable and credible medical services for patients. “The growth in the Middle East healthcare market is mirrored in the increasing number of high-quality submissions for the 2014 awards. The maturing yet dynamic industry brings out many best practices as reflected by the winners,” said Jan Schmitz-Huebsch, Director for Business Development & Projects at Munich Health Daman Holding in the Mena region and former principal at Booz and Co Dubai. 
The Peninsula
