Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday morning patronised the graduation ceremony of the 10th batch of the Armed Forces and Interior Ministry’s cadets at Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, ministers, top officers from the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior and heads of military colleges of friendly countries.
The Emir honoured outstanding graduates and reviewed a parade by the graduates with slow march and normal march.
The graduates handed over the flag to the 11th. An order for promotion was read out and the graduates took the oath.
In a speech, Brigadier Hamad Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Commander of the college, thanked the Emir for patronising the ceremony and honouring graduates and said the Emir’s presence was a clear indication of his care and attention to Qatari youth.
Brigadier Al Nuaimi said the college, established in 1996 following directives of the Father Emir, aimed to qualify police and army officer cadets in various scientific disciplines. “Today, we celebrate the graduation of 92 officer cadets of military sectors and brotherly and friendly states. They are from the Armed Forces, police, Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya), Emiri Guard, State Security and the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Comoros.”
The university graduate course, held for nine students took nearly one year during which they obtained the diploma of military science, he added.
He thanked the Minister of State for Defence Affairs and the Chief of Staff for constant support for college. He also thanked the ministry, Lekhwiya and Emiri Guard for support and effective interaction that contributed to implementation of the college’s programmes and plans.
The Emir also met heads of military colleges from Gulf, Arab and friendly countries at the college and discussed topics of mutual interest. The Prime Minister was present. QNA
