ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz, says the United States has not formally announced an end to drone attacks in Pakistan.
Speaking to the local media, he said the US was facing pressure from the international community over drone attacks.
Aziz said Nawaz Shahrif had told President Barack Obama during his visit to the US that the drones were causing damage instead of any benefit.
US arms supply gathers pace
ISLAMABAD: US arms supply and fresh military aid to Pakistan has quietly gained momentum in the past year, Congressional sources have said, according to a report by the Economic Times.
The Pentagon, according to publicly available documents, has reported total Foreign Military Sales agreements with Pakistan worth about $5.2bn for the period between FY-2002 and FY-2012.
The resumption of US military aid to Pakistan is seen as a sign of normalisation of military-to-military ties between the two countries that had hit rock bottom after the killing of Osama bin Laden by US forces in Abbottabad in May 2011.
