Doha: Qatar Charity yesterday announced to continue its support for Syrians displaced inside Syria and those living as refugees in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey.
The Gaza office is currently helping Syrian families in the Gaza Strip through the provision of home furniture for 207 families, as well as items including blankets, mattresses, carpets and cooking gas cylinders.
The aid has contributed to alleviating the suffering and pain resulting from the difficult circumstances they are experiencing due to their displacement.
“We have been distributing mattresses, blankets and other household supplies to help displaced families from Syria as a result of the current situation there,” said Engineer Mohammad Abu Haloub, deputy director of QC’s Gaza Strip office.
Around 250 Syrian families are believed to have fled to Gaza in order to escape the conflict and the majority of them are suffering significant economic and social hardship, in desperate need of shelter and work.
The beneficiaries extended their thanks and gratitude to QC, the emir of Qatar, its Government and people for their humanitarian assistance to Syrian refuges in Palestine.
QC has recently released a new campaign for the support of Syrian refuges, within the framework of its ‘Syria, Pain and Hope’ initiative. The campaign comes under the slogan ‘Have mercy on # Syria’ and focuses on improving the living conditions of Syrian children, particularly those above the age of three, who are most affected by the crisis, due to displacement, asylum and the loss of a breadwinner.
The campaign aims to provide support to children and their families inside Syria as well as those living as refuges in neighboring countries and includes food, milk and school bags.
According to recent estimates from the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), around 5.5 million Syrian children are currently displaced, including 1.2 million children living as refugees.
