BPS mourns founder Sarala Birla

DOHA: Birla Public School  staff at a special meeting yesterday mourned the death of Sarala Birla, wife of Basant Kumar Birla who founded various educational institutions in India and abroad. 
She was chairperson and founder of B K Birla Centre for Education in Pune, India, and established Birla Public School, Doha in 2004.
Sarala was instrumental in establishing almost 40 educational institutes from pre-schooling to postgraduation.
She was a great art lover and her collection on display is rated as one of the finest in India.
Her philanthropic work and pragmatism made her a fine woman of substance. 
She was 91 and is survived by her husband and two daughters. 
In the condolence meeting at the school, A K Shrivastava, Principal, recalled Sarala’s contributions to the community in the field of education and her special interest in activities of Birla Public School Doha.
