Doha: Over 50 French and other francophone residents, including staff from the French embassy,  participated in a blood donation campaign at Ambassador Eric Chevallier’s residence.
He thanked donors for contributing to Qatar national blood donation campaign and praised the role of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Blood Donation Centre team and Doha Accueil, the Francophone network association in Qatar.
He told the media: “I donated blood at the centre in February as a first step to set an example.
“Blood donation is a noble act and conveys the message of solidarity.
“It helps everyday victims of car crashes, delivering women, patients for major surgeries or transplants, and those with diseases that require frequent blood transfusion.
“In February, I promised to mobilise the French community and more broadly the francophone community in Qatar. This has been fulfilled today with the support of Doha Accueil.  On April 8, we plan to have another campaign at the centre, with the help of Doha Accueil and French Lycée Bonaparte. All these donations will save lives in Qatar.”
