DOHA: A criminal court has sentenced a Yemeni woman to three years in jail in absentia for forging an academic degree.
The court also ordered to confiscate the document and deport the convict after she has served the jail term.
The Public Prosecution accused her and another person of making a counterfeit stamp of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry in Yemen to attest a bachelor’s degree issued by Sana’a University.
The convict’s husband attended the hearing as proxy. The convict could not produce a valid reason for being absent and the court ruled in absentia.
