DOHA: The Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani met with Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Otar Daniela and his accompanying delegation yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of developing them as well as aspects of joint cooperation, especially in economic, trade and investment fields. In a separate meeting with the Qatar Chamber officials, the visiting Minister invited Qatari businessmen to visit his country and explore the trade and investment opportunities available in Georgia.
The QC board member Mohamed Ahmed Al Obaidly and Georgia’s Ambassador to Qatar Ekaterine Meiering-Mikadze attended the meeting.
The meeting dealt with ways of strengthening economic and trade relations between the Qatari businessmen and their Georgia counterparts in addition to the investment opportunities available in both countries.
The Georgian Minister welcomed Qatari investments, and made a presentation on the most important sectors in which business owners can Qatari investment such as transport, tourism, food security, and especially agriculture, which constitutes 10 percent of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
Mohamed Al Obaidly said Qatari investors are looking to explore opportunities in the areas of agriculture and real estate, as well as other sectors in Georgia.The Peninsula
