Munich, Germany: Experienced Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci is set to discover on Wednesday whether he will be fit to play at Euro 2016 after the centre-back was stretchered off against Germany.

The Juventus star, who has played for Italy at the last two World Cup finals and Euro 2012, was carried off in the 61st minute of their 4-1 thumping at Munich's Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

He went down clutching his groin in the build-up to Germany's third goal and will undergo a scan on Wednesday to discover the extent of the injury with just over 70 days to the start of Euro 2016.

"I slipped and felt a sharp pain in the groin," he said after being carried off.

"We will have a scan and then we'll know more."

Italy play their first game against Belgium on June 13 having also been drawn with the Republic of Ireland and Sweden in Group E.

The Azzurri also have warm up matches against Scotland and Finland in the fortnight before the European championships, which start on June 10.
