People break their fast during a community Iftar hosted by the AMUAAQ.
Doha: The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ) an associate organisation (AO) of ICBF under the aegis of the Embassy of India-Qatar, organised the traditional community Iftar with the theme “Charity: Being empathic to the needs of others” on March 24, the first Friday of Ramadan.
More than 350 Aligs and well-wishers attended with their families and broke their fast in the picturesque venue of Box park with sea on two sides and view of Doha sky scrappers and stadium 974 on the other two sides. Islamic Quiz competition was organised for children aged 7-12 and above 12 categories which saw great participation. Younger children recited Surahs and all participants were given gifts while winners and runners up of Quiz competition were given prizes in both the categories.
This is 4th time while AMUAAQ organised their community Iftar in open area (Lawn/Park) similar to Alma mater (AMU) tradition. Event was presided by AMUAAQ President – Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani.
Dr. Nadeem Zafar Jilani, President AMUAAQ welcomes the Alumni & their families while Jawed Ahmad, Chairman AMUAAQ introduced the special guests – MC Mohammed, Mumtaz Hussain, Sabith Saheer (Ex-GS, ICBF), Satyendra Pathak, Syed Ali, Khwaja Nijamuddin Ahmad, Vaqas Ahmad, Dr. Fuad Usman and Chief guest of the event from Russian Embassy, Captain Pavel Burmistrov.
Maulana Ishtiaq Ahmad Falahi spoke about the importance of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Zakat. He mentioned that Ramadan is a wonderful opportunity to repent for sins and wrong doings. “We should take the momentum forward and work for the purity of soul and enhancement of Taqwa’’. Prayer & Dua was jointly performed on the ground by Gents and Ladies after Iftar (Fatoor).
The AMU Alumni Association Qatar is a non-profit and socio-cultural organisation committed to promote a sense of brotherhood and foster spirit of community wellness. The forum’s objective is to serve the educational, social, literary, sports and cultural needs of the community.
AMUAAQ Managing committee members and members of AMUAAQ Sports, Toastmasters, Healthcare and many more community representative attended and graced the occasion. Ahmad Azim Khan awarded with certificates and mementos as a notable Alig in Qatar towards his support for AMU alumni and other community members, Annual day recognition certificates and mementos were also given to Yawer Hussain, Mansoor Alam and Poonam Sharma for previous annual day.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, President of AMUAAQ affiliated body in discussion said that “Today, we had a great time with so many attendees. Ramadan is truly a period where our spirituality, ties with our family and community bonds strengthens us and allows us to become the best version of ourselves.”
