DOHA: The Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada yesterday announced that Kahramaa, as part of its efforts to provide quality and sustainable utilities for achieving a high standard of living, is changing from objective-based planning to result-oriented strategy.
Dr Al Sada was speaking at the launch ceremony of ‘Kahramaa Long-Term Strategy Upto 2030’ held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
The Minister stressed the importance of Kahramaa strategy saying that it forms the first step towards the complete strategic transformation of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation where management will be based on results, measured by a set of performance indicators, rather than objectives.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud. Also present were Kahramaa President Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari and other officials.
Al Sada said: “Kahramaa strategy and the new vision, mission, and objectives come within the (ambit of) great development Qatar electricity and water sectors have witnessed in the last six decades. They reflect Kahramaa’s commitment to good performance, quality of service, customer-centric approach as well as sustainability to its wide meaning.”
“Kahramaa will contribute in keeping with its new vision, mission, values, and objectives to the achievement of the four pillars of Qatar National Vision and Qatar National Development Strategy just as desired by the Emir,
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani,” the Minister added.
Al Sada said that since its inception in 2000, Kahramaa has worked to develop electricity and water services in Qatar by adopting various strategic initiatives. The latest was the launch of various electronic services as the first phase of transforming Kahramaa into a smart corporation by 2015.
Al Kuwari said: “The change in Kahramaa’s strategy aims at aligning with QNV 2030 and QNDS 2011 – 2016 where continual development is a key component of Kahramaa plans and operations to achieve and maintain the desired excellence.”
He stresses that Kahramaa’s long-term strategy is based on seven main topics — strategic analysis, strategic planning, operations and systems structure; employees audit, performance review, governance of assets and business management.
“In order to ensure the achievement of our vision, mission, and objectives, Kahramaa has adopted excellence as its slogan across six dimensions ...” Al Kuwari added.
