DOHA: The Jassim Bin Mohammed Street and two lanes of Al Rayyan Road are now open to traffic, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
Both roads are part of Al Rayyan Road renovation project which includes upgrade of roads stretching from east of Bani Hajer roundabout to east of Al Diwan Street intersection.
Renovation of Al Rayyan
Al Qadeem Street starting from Al Rayyan Park until Huwar Street and Bu Erayyen Street between Al Rayyan Road and
Al Rayyan Al Qadeem street is also part of the project.
With the opening of Jassim Bin Mohammed Street, motorists will be able to use the street including Al Koot Fort, Al Jasra and Al Diwan signals between
Al Corniche street and Souq Waqif. Vehicles coming from Al Najada Souq can turn right to access
Al Corniche Street and Al Najada Street and Msheireb Downtown Doha through Al Rayyan Road.
Ashghal has also announced the opening of two lanes on Al Rayyan road in one direction going from Old Diwan signal towards Souq Waqif, while the lanes going in the opposite direction are expected to open in two weeks.
This renovation will be implemented over four phases. Ashghal has already completed the phase related to Jassim Bin Mohammed Street and Old Diwan intersection on Al Rayyan Road. This phase extends across 1.5 km and connects several vital commercial areas.
