ICC lines up events to mark 50 years of Qatar-India diplomatic relations

Doha: Indian Cultural Centre(ICC) in coordination with Embassy of India in Qatar will organise a slew of events as part of the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relationship between Qatar and India.

The activities will begin with the inauguration of ICC Wednesday Fiesta on May 3, at ICC Ashoka Hall. The event will be on every Wednesday through the year. 

“ICC is all set with greater preparations and planning for yet another continuous event to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Qatar on every Wednesday,” said ICC President Manikantan AP.

Addressing a press conference held at ICC yesterday, he said that many events are being planned and the first such programme is going will begin on May 3. 

“Chargé d’affaires of Embassy of India T Angeline Premalatha will inaugurate the ICC Wednesday Fiesta at ICC Ashoka Hall at 7pm,” said Manikantan. 

The event was attended by Vice President Subramanya Hebbagelu, General Secretary Mohan Kumar Duraisamy, Treasurer Arshad Ali, Head of Premises and Social Activities Adv. Jaffarkhan M, Head of Cultural Activities Sumaa Mahesh Gowda and Head of External Events & Activity Coordinator Gargy Vaidya.

ICC President also announced a number of new initiatives by ICC such as launching ICC clubs, literature clubs, privilege card and job portal and job fair among others.

He said that ICC, through the job portal and job fair aims to connect the employers and employees which will benefit each other. 

“ICC is planning to revamp clubs like literature, science and mathematics, photography, and environment club to promote quality and artistic renewal. The teams shall work towards preserving our cultural heritage and showcasing the same towards others,” said Manikantan.

He said that science and mathematics club will enable students to know more about innovation, new applications, technological enhancements, and scientific research which will enhance their scientific acumen beyond curricular boundaries.

“Indian Cultural Centre is planning to introduce a privilege card for ICC members and associate organisation members to avail of discounts from various shops, clinics, beauty centres and restaurants,” said Manikantan.
