DOHA: A new initiative to create awareness about the importance of child car seats was announced yesterday under the safety campaign ‘One Second.’
A total of 7,000 child car seats will be distributed for newborns in coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) with support of the Supreme Council of Health, Maersk Oil and National Traffic Safety Committee.
The initiative is a national safety campaign officially launched by the Minister of State for Interior Affairs H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, at the new Traffic Department headquarters.
“Our aim is to protect lives of people. This safety campaign will reach all segments of society, including children and drivers,” said the minister.
In another initiative under the ‘One Second Campaign’, a driving simulation programme was launched, supported by the Supreme Education Council, Qatar Petroleum and Maersk Oil, in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee.
