BUDAPEST: Fresh from a landslide win in an April general election, powerful Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban revealed his new nine-strong cabinet yesterday, including a new Foreign Minister.
Orban, who won a second consecutive term in office on April 6, named former Justice Minister Tibor Navracsics as Minister of Foreign and External Economic Affairs. Navracsics takes over an expanded ministry from Janos Martonyi, who steps down from ministerial duties.
Navracsics is replaced as Justice Minister by a new face, Laszlo Trocsanyi, previously Hungary’s ambassador to France.
Another newcomer, Miklos Sesztak becomes Minister of National Development, replacing the outgoing Zsuzsanna Nemeth. Orban’s current Chief-of-Staff János Lazar has been promoted to Minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office which receives ministry status. AFP
