Doha: The Youth Company’s yearly Ramadan volunteer initiative “7asanat Olympics” has been launched this Ramadan for the sixth year running, reaching out to thousands of people across the nation. The initiative’s various activities began on the first day of Ramadan and will conclude at the end of May 2019.

“The main driver for the company’s purpose and passion over the last fifteen years has been and will continue to be our enthusiastic support for the local communities. Now as we witness the sixth year of our commitment to the success of the 7asanat Olympics, we continue our tradition of supporting youth, entrepreneurship, and volunteerism in our CSR efforts, and in pursuit of QNV 2030 Social Development objectives,” stated Ranjeev Menon, GWC Group CEO.

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, 70 volunteers engaged in a number of initiatives including distributing Iftar boxes at traffic signals at maghreb time, hospital visits for patients who cannot be with their families, and targeted clean-ups of Qatar’s beaches.

The volunteers also visited various community centres as part of their outreach, including the Muaither Residential Compound for the Elderly, Step by Step, Omega Centre, and Hope Centre for children with special needs. The event also included a Garangao children’s festival on the 14th night of Ramadan.

The 7asanat Olympics is an annual Ramadan event encouraging youth volunteerism and helping those fasting in the community as well as the disadvantaged. This year’s Olympics is a month-long programme that comprises an array of different charitable activities. It aims to help shape multicultural Qatar by raising awareness of the importance of individual volunteerism and collective action to improve lives of less fortunate ones and show care towards others during Ramadan.
