ISLAMABAD: Another blow to masses is on the cards as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has recommended that the government increase petroleum prices by Rs3.66 per litre from July 1, 2013.
Sources said that the regulator had recommended to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources an increase in the price of petrol by Rs2.66 per litre, high octane blending component (HOBC) by Rs2.36 per litre and high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.66 per litre.
Likewise, the regulator has also recommended an increase in the price of light diesel oil by Rs3.04 per litre and kerosene oil by Rs2.50 per litre. The rise in POL price is to be passed on to end consumers mainly because of the rise in the GST to 17 percent from 16 percent, to be effective from July 1.
The new price of petrol is likely to be Rs102.43 per litre, that of high speed diesel Rs108.26 per litre, kerosene oil Rs96.29 per litre, light diesel oil Rs99.17 per litre, and HOBC Rs126.77 per litre.
