DOHA: Qatar stocks declined fifth straight session yesterday, shedding 147.07 points, or 1.24 percent, on yesterday. All the sector indices edged down with the real estate dropping the most by 4.07 percent.
Of the 43 listed companies seven registered gains while 36 went down. Among the banking stocks, QNB was the top gainer. QNB gained 1.85 percent. Doha Bank was up 0.91 percent. The bourse’s main index declined 15 percent this month. Foreign investors have been net sellers for the last few weeks, Reuters reported.
“I think in Qatar the market is on a downward trend more or less for the same reasons (as in the UAE)-profit-taking plus short-term investors getting out of the market,” Reuters quoted an analyst as saying.
Market cap dipped to QR636bn from the previous trading session’s QR643bn. The Peninsula
