New York: The UN Security Council unanimously has adopted a resolution renewing the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the occupied Syrian Golan (UNDOF) for a period of six months.
The 15 members of the Council voted in favor of Resolution 2782, which extends UNDOF's mandate.
UNDOF was established on May 31, 1974, and has continued its operations in the area since then to supervise the implementation of the disengagement agreement.
Last week, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, reiterated that the force continues to play a crucial role and is making every effort to achieve disengagement.
