27 NOCs back Sheikh Joaan for OCA Presidency term 2027-2035

Doha: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has announced that it has received nominations from 27 National Olympic Committees in favour of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for the position of OCA President for the term 2027- 2035. 

The OCA President thanked the NOCs for their trust and confidence in his leadership.

“The deadline for nominations from the OCA’s 45 member National Olympic Committees closed on June 30, 2026 at 5pm Kuwait time. The OCA has not received any other nomination for the post of President OCA,” OCA posted on its official web site yesterday. 

The next OCA General Assembly will be held in Doha, Qatar on January 27, 2027.

Sheikh Joaan, who is also the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, was elected as the OCA President in January this year for the remaining term after former OCA President Randhir Singh stood down due to his health reason.
