MANILA: Ten civilian informants yesterday received over P5m cash rewards from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) under the agency’s Operation Private Eye.
The Private Eye Rewards Committee, composed of members from academe, non-government organisations, law enforcement, religious and business sectors, approved a resolution granting a total of P5.8m in monetary rewards to the 10 informants after careful deliberation.
The civilians provided information which led to the successful arrests of several high-value drug personalities and foreign drug personalities during interdiction operations, implementation of search warrants, and confiscation of large volume of shabu, ephedrine, fly high capsules and ecstasy tablets.
MANILA: The four policemen kidnapped by communist rebels in Surigao del Norte early this month were freed Tuesday afternoon. Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Capt Alberto Caber said the four policemen were released in an undisclosed location in Agusan del Norte. “The four policemen will undergo medical check-up and stress debriefing,” he added.The policemen, identified as PO3 Vice Calubag Concon, PO1s Rey O’Niel Morales, Joen Zabala and Edito Roquino, were taken captive by communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels during a raid on a police station in Surigao del Norte last July 10.
