Doha: The State of Qatar strongly condemned the targeting of two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers off the Port of Damietta in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, considering it a direct threat to global energy supplies, a clear and flagrant violation of international law, and an irresponsible act that undermines regional security and disregards the interests of peoples.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar's total rejection of the targeting of vital civilian infrastructure.

In this context, it stressed the importance of sparing the region the consequences of unjustified attacks and working to de-escalate tensions in order to restore regional and international security and stability.

The Ministry also reaffirmed the State of Qatar's full solidarity with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt and its support for all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty and security.
