Countdown clock displayed on Es’hailSat website.
DOHA: A countdown clock was displayed on Es’hailSat — Qatar Satellite Company’s website — to mark the launch of Qatar’s first satellite Es’hail 1 from European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.
The launch took place around 11.30pm Doha time.
People were able to follow the launch time on the website, while watch the historic event live on arianespace.tv.
Qatar Satellite Company, Es’hailSat, expects to provide services of the new satellite by December. It will broadcast more than 30 high definition television (HDTV) and 70 standard definition television (SDTV) channels.
After conducting experiments and technical tests on Es’hail 1 for three months, the orbit of the satellite will be 25.5 east, 36,000km above the earth’s surface. The Peninsula
