High-profile murder suspects yet to be held

KARACHI: No mastermind involved in high-profile killings, including murders of Liaquat Ali Khan and Mir Murtaza Bhutto, has been arrested to date.
Suspected persons in cases that are likely to be solved are killed in alleged encounters. If any suspect is arrested in a high-profile case, he gets bail or is released due to weak interrogation.
The killer of Liaquat Ali Khan was gunned down on the spot by unknown persons. Till date, no clue has been found of the mastermind behind the murder.
The question that who gunned down Mir Murtaza Bhutto is still unanswered. The investigation officer in this case, Haq Nawaz Sial, was found dead in his police quarter. Other important characters in this case, ASI Zakir Commando and Zeeshan Kazmi, were also killed. A white-colour jeep, said to be used in this case, had also gone missing.
The mastermind of attack on the convoy of Benazir Bhutto in Karachi has not been traced so far while one FIR in this case was registered on behalf of the state and the other on the court orders.
The last investigation officer in this case, DSP Nawaz Ranjha was also killed. Besides, the masterminds behind murders of Inspector Aslam Khan, Inspector Toufeeq Zahid and DSP Shah Muhammad could not be traced.
Benazir Bhutto’s chief security officer Khalid Shahenshah was killed in a suicide attack while her close aide Munawar Suharwardi was also gunned down. SP Chaudhry Aslam was killed in a bomb attack and the police claimed that the key accused was killed in a police encounter.
