DOHA: Lifestyle disease and its complications will be in focus at the second Qatar Internal Medicine Conference hosted by Hamad General Hospital’s Internal Medicine Department today at Ritz-Carlton Doha.
The conference until November 2 is in line with Hamad Medical Corporation’s vision to deliver the safest, most effective and compassionate care to each of its patients.
The forum will be attended by over 800 internal medicine physicians and specialists from Qatar, GCC, and other Arab and Western countries.
Dr Abdel Naser Elzouki, Chairman, Organising Committee, said about 55 speakers will give lectures on latest developments in internal medicine and related diseases.
Topics will also include diseases and their complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac disease, kidney disease, respiratory system diseases, digestive system diseases, as well as liver and neurology diseases.
Dr Elzouki said a symposium on the most recent advancements in the treatment of tumours will also be held by participating doctors in collaboration with Mediterranean Taskforce for Cancer Control.
There will also be an exhibition by about 12 companies specialising in medical equipment and supplies.
Conference Steering Committee Member, Dr Mehdi Errayes, highlighted other activities, including 10 workshops covering all internal medicine specialities as well as three interactive training sessions on severe internal medicine cases.
These will include the provision of high quality medical care for in-patients with acute coronary syndrome.
The conference will also host a discussion and poster display of research projects undertaken by HMC resident doctors.
The poster display will feature projects on local diseases in internal medicine based on HMC patient samples.
A prize will be awarded to the best research project by the organizing committee.
