Doha: The qualifying rounds for the coveted Qatar Classic squash tournament started yesterday with over a dozens of matches were decided at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
However, it was not a good start for home player with Abdulrahman Al Malki falling to Raphael Kundra of Germany in straight games. In other match, Qatar’s Syed Azlan Amjad received similar fate against Frenchman Gregoire Marche who won in only 19 minutes. Egypt’s Omer Abdel overcame compatriot Mohammed Reda in longest match of the day which continued till 78 minutes. The qualifying round will continue today. Matches of the main draw begin from October 31, while the finals of both the men’s and women’s section will be played on November 6.
