Al-Ahli Hospital has its own Dental Laboratory within the Dental Center to ensure rapid preparation of dental appliances.
“Al-Ahli Hospital’s dental department is one of the most comprehensive centres in Qatar. It started in 2004, when the hospital was just opened, with two clinics, from there we have expanded into a dedicated dental centre covering all types of sub specialities in dentistry,” Dr Sami Krimly, Head of the Dental Department at Al-Ahli Hospital.
“At present, we have 12 dentists, of different specialities with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary way of working. “If a patient comes here with any type of dental problem, he will certainly find a solution” he added.
According to Dr Krimly, the Dental Center at Al-Ahli Hospital offers emergency service round the clock and it receives patients, referred from hospitals in Qatar and from other neighboring countries, particularly for Maxillofacial Surgery.
“We have well experienced and qualified dentists, the latest technology available in dentistry such as digital orthodontist services, invisible braces made by highly recognized manufactures and root canal done under microscope. We don’t compromise the quality and we have always received good feedback from our patients” said Dr Krimly.
The Dental Department at Al-Ahli Hospital recently expanded its services to Al Wakra with the opening of a new polyclinic in the area.
“We have the vision of providing the services for more people. At present we have two dental clinics with basic dentistry services operating in Al Wakra and hopefully, all subspecialties in dentistry will be available by early next year,” said Dr Krimly.
Dr Reem Al Kilani, General Dentist and Oral Dental Surgeon said, “The advantage of being in a hospital is that we can cover all type of patients, especially the medically compromised patients. We treat here all kind of patients like those with diabetics, pregnant women, individuals with Down syndrome and autism.”
“Pediatric patients with fear of dentistry, we first break the fear between the kid and the dentist. This will helps in their future prevention and make them accept the dental treatment when they grow as adults. Some special and difficult pediatric cases should be handled under general anesthesia,” she added.
Prosthodontics is another branch of dentistry available with high quality services. It is concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth. A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the aesthetic (cosmetic) restoration and replacement of teeth, Restores optimum appearance and function of your smile.
Dr Rabab Jaber, a Dentist specialized in aesthetics with long years of experience said: “We are more keen to keep the natural look of the teeth. We prepare the whole mouth and teeth and give the esthetic result which the guest is looking for.”
Root canal treatment is another phrase often heard in dentistry. It is a straightforward procedure to relieve dental pain and save the teeth. Patients typically need a root canal when there is inflammation or infection in the roots of a tooth. During root canal treatment, an endodontist, who specializes in such treatment, carefully removes the pulp inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects and shapes the root canals, and places a filling to seal the space.
At Al-Ahli Hospital the experience of having a root canal treatment done can be more relaxing and convenient.
“We do the root canal treatment in one session under the surgical operating microscope and state of art endodontic technologies,” said Dr. Hareth Alkatheb, a dentist specialized in root canal treatment and re-treatment.
“We also do root canal re-treatment for the failed cases in one session under the surgical operating microscope and using up to date endodontic technologies. Our services also include removal of broken needles, perforation repair of the root floor or walls, differential diagnosis of the oro-facial pain using special endodontic diagnostic tests to manage the traumatized teeth,” he added.
