MANILA: A man allegedly beheaded his 70-year-old mother inside their house in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, police said yesterday. Senior Inspector Roberto Mansueto, Moises Padilla police chief, said the head of Nenita Aguirre was found on a table beside a Christmas tree at around 6:30am yesterday.

Aguirre’s 38-year-old son Jojie was arrested after Wilfredo Semillano, a neighbour of the victim, reported the incident. PO3 Deogracias Teope III said he found a 22-inch bolo with bloodstains on a chair near the table. The suspect is allegedly suffering from depression after his wife and children left him for being alcoholic.

Policemen arrest murder suspect

LA TRINIDAD: Policemen finally cornered the 29-year-old killer of a barangay tanod in Dolores town in Abra. Suspect Willie Gandelara Bautista shot the village peacekeeper the other day during a drinking spree.

Abra officer-in-charge Superintendent Clint Bayacsan said Bautista, single and a resident of Barangay Mudiit was drinking with 35-year-old tanod Jacinto Eric Ferdinand Atmosfera Velasco, married, when a misunderstanding occurred.

Velasco hacked the suspect but the latter retaliated by shooting the tanod before fleeing.

The tanod never reached the hospital alive while Bautista was arrested by policemen from the Dolores and Tayum municipal police stations while he was being treated for hack wounds at the Abra provincial hospital.

Under close watch from policemen, Bautista is now facing murder raps.
