Five new polio cases detected in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Five new cases of polio have been detected in Chaman, Balochistan. Polio virus was confirmed in four girls and a boy.
 
The WHO has decided to immediately start polio vaccination in Qilla Abdullah and adjacent areas. Two polio cases were also detected in Afghanistan.
 
WHO polio wing chief, Dr Ilyas Daray, while talking to Dunya News said that detection of polio virus in seven children in Asia on a single day is very alarming.
 
Meanwhile a seven-member WHO delegation headed by Dr Muhammad-Al-Muhammadi, has reached Quetta. The delegation will also meet Chief Secretary Balochistan, Secretary Health to discuss arrangements for polio vaccination campaign in Qilla Abdullah. (QNA)
