Hamas cancels anniversary events due to fuel crisis

GAZA CITY: The Islamist movement Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, announced yesterday it has called off events in December to mark its 26th anniversary because of the Palestinian territory’s fuel crisis. “Given the siege conditions, Hamas has decided to call off festivities for its 26th anniversary and to use the funds instead for services to ease people’s hardships,” a statement said. A Hamas spokesman, Ashraf Abu Zayed, said some small-scale activities would be held in Gaza on the December 14 anniversary.
Opposition’s office in Tunis attacked

TUNIS: “A gang” of around 60 people attacked the headquarters of a coalition of political parties opposed to Tunisia’s ruling Islamists in Tunis overnight on Thursday, the opposition group announced. “A paid gang tried to attack the headquarters of the Popular Front. There was no damage and our colleagues are fine,” the group said.AFP
