DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has launched electronic licence for healthcare practitioners as part of efforts to simplify and fasten the licensing procedures.
Doctors, nurses and other health practitioners can now access their valid licence through the Electronic Registration and Licensing System at SCH or through smart phones and tablets, said a circular issued by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) to all practitioners.
A SCH licence is mandatory for all healthcare professionals to practice in Qatar. This licence has to be renewed every year.
With introduction of the e-licence, practitioners will not have to wait until they receive a paper copy of the licence. They can start working immediately after the e-licence is issued and they will be notified through SCH’s registration and licensing system.
The e-licence can be used as a reference during inspections conducted by the SCH and can be presented to the public as a valid document, said the circular.
The valid electronic licence will also be accessible to the public. It will be available for anyone who wants to search for a licensed physician or other practitioners. The licence will show the name of his/her employer and the scope of practice, along with other personal details.
The e-licence will only be available as long as the practitioner’s registration is valid. Once the licence expires, it will no longer be viewable on the system, said the circular.
