DOHA: As part of its commitment to bring innovative banking solutions and payment products in the banking sector, Qatar National Bank (QNB) yesterday announced “QNB mPOS” the first Mobile Point-of-Sale (mPOS) solution in Qatar, a new software solution designed to support merchants’ growth, according to a press statement.
“QNB mPOS” is the latest card acceptance solution that uses a compact, highly secured card reader that connects and transforms the merchant’s smart phone or tablet into a fully certified EMV Chip & PIN mobile payment terminal. By using mobile data, it empowers merchants to accept card payments directly from their customers in a fast and secured environment. It is perceived to be a simple and convenient way for customers to pay, anywhere and at any time.
Heba Al Tamimi, General Manager Retail at QNB Group, said: “The mPOS Solution has shown potential in the international markets where merchants of all sizes can accept payments using their mobile phones. Customers experience is enriched with the ease of making payments at any store location or at their doorstep, which results in increase customer loyalty. QNB’s mPOS solution will provide retailers such as delivery, merchants at exhibitions, VIP services, transportation, and restaurants with a new payment channel that is easy to install.”
The solution is powered by Swiftch which is developed by Mathema Technology LLC. This solution can be customized as per individual merchant needs and is compatible across iOS and Android platforms that resides on any smart device. In conjunction with a blue tooth enabled card readers, this solution permits merchants to accept payments in a secured environment. QNB mPOS will not only address micro and small merchants with card acceptance functionality, but also the big retailers point of sale requirement with a robust mobile POS solution that enables integration with their complex back-end systems, in addition to supporting all types of cards.
