DOHA: Qatar SC recorded the biggest victory of the season so far when they thrashed Al Wakra at their home turf yesterday, as the Qatar Stars League (QSL) resumed after a long break for the recently-concluded Gulf Cup.
The league resumed with two matches yesterday with Al Khor and Al Kharaitiyat sharing a point each following a 1-1 draw, in the other game.
However, yesterday was all about Qatar SC’s performance which annihilated the Al Wakra team with a ruthless show.
They showed their intentions right from the beginning and took an early lead when Hamdi Harbaoui found the target in eighth minute.
The team continued to dominate their opponents with repeated attacks and it was Kooky Young who gave Qatar SC their second goal in 31st minute.
The next minute, Mahir Yusuf Bakir made it 3-0 for the team in yellow and black stripes.
Al Wakra tried to make a comeback in the second session but the worst was to come for the home side as Qatar SC scored four more goals in the final session to complete a 7-0 drubbing.
Bakir completed his brace in the second minute of the session with Mousa Majid (60), captain Mohammed Omar Saeed (83) and Khalid Salih Ahmed (87) being the other scorers in the second half.
Meanwhile, the match between Al Khor and Al Kharaitiyat saw more cards than goals with the former team’s players getting the caution on three occasions and the latter side’s Assie Koua Vivien getting the red card.
Al Kharaitiyat scored first in the 22nd minute which was leveled by Al Khor in the 53rd minute.
Five matches will be played today including a game featuring Lekhwiya and Al Shahaniya. Leaders Al Sadd will also be seen in action when they will meet Al Gharafa at the Al Gharafa Stadium.THE PENINSULA
