DOHA: A temporary diversion on part of Lijmiliya Road, running about 2km in both directions will be in place from tomorrow, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
The diversion will last six months. Traffic will be diverted to a new temporary road adjacent to the closed one.
The closure is for demolition of the existing road and construction of a new dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction.
The new road, which is part of Lijmiliya, Leatooriya, Al Sheehaniya Expressway Project, will include a permanent roundabout, a median island and pedestrian and cyclist pathways.
The project also includes works to develop the area’s infrastructure, install Intelligent Transport Systems and a comprehensive drainage system.
