Qatar Chamber held a meeting with the visiting delegation from the Republic of Kenya yesterday chaired by the Director of Personnel Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Kenya, to discuss cooperation in investment fields.
The Vice-Chairman of QC, Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari said that Kenyan manpower is highly efficient, especially in the construction, hospitality and security, announcing the chamber’s readiness to cooperate fully and provide all necessary information in order to facilitate the recruitment of local employment companies for Kenyan labour.
“Qatari businessmen are interested in learning about the investment opportunities and the markets available in Kenya” he said, referring to coordination with the Kenyan side to organise a business visit to explore a number of sectors of the Kenyan Republic.
The Kenyan community in Qatar, which is about 2,400 people, is trained and qualified to work in the Qatari market, said Washington Oulu, referring to the government’s efforts in rehabilitating the skills of workers to work abroad.
He pointed out that his government has adopted a number of Kenyan employment agencies registered and controlled by them, which Qatari recruitment companies can deal with when bringing Kenyan workers. He added that Kenya is one of the ideal countries for business in Africa due to the diversity of opportunities offered by its geographic location on the continent. In 2014, Qatar and Kenya signed seven cooperation agreements in the areas of economic and trade cooperation, including an MoU between Qatar Chamber and Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
