Cairo: The State of Qatar participated in an event held yesterday at the Arab League Secretariat General headquarters to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The event was attended by permanent delegates to the Arab League, and a number of political, diplomatic and media personalities. The delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League H E Ambassador Salem Mubarak Al Shafi.
In a statement on the occasion, the Arab League said that the celebration of International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People is an important annual occasion to remind of the justice of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to restore all their legitimate and inalienable rights, foremost of which is their right to self-determination, ending the occupation, and establishing their independent and sovereign state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Arab League called for supporting all Palestinian and Arab diplomatic endeavours aiming to strengthen the position of the State of Palestine in the international arena, most importantly the efforts seeking the State of Palestine obtaining full membership in the United Nations to become an active member in the international community.
The Arab League also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by providing international protection for the Palestinian people and deterring the expansionist colonial settlement occupation system.
