DOHA: The supervisory committee for Central Municipal Council (CMC) election, which will be held in May 2015, will begin registering voters from January 11.
Registration, which will be open for five days, can be done through Metrash 2 service of the Ministry of Interior or by visiting designated venues in the 29 CMC constituencies.
The committee is making a new voter list after the wards were re-demarcated recently following large-scale shifting of Qatari families from several of them due to demolitions to give way to development projects.
Qataris will be electing members for the fifth term of the CMC next year. The 29-member public representative body has a four-year term. It was first elected in early 1999.
