Liverpool smash Arsenal 5-1 to go 9 points clear

London: Liverpool thrashed Arsenal 5-1 on Saturday night at Anfield to go nine points clear on top of the Premier League table.

Roberto Firmino scored his first Premier League hat-trick, and goals from Mane and Salah sealed a 5-1 victory for the Reds. 

The Gunners only goal came by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who put Arsenal ahead in the 11th minute, but the Reds relied with a quick brace by Firmino in the 14th and 16th minutes.

In the 32nd minute, Salah put Mane in front of the goal with a fantastic pass and Senegalese added Liverpool's third goal. 

Ahead of the end of the first half, Salah scored from the penalty spot. 

In the second half, Firmino added his third goal and Liverpool's fifth from the penalty spot to seal a famous win for Liverpool at Anfield. 

Earlier in the day, Wolves beat Spurs 3-1 at Wembley Stadium. (QNA)
