Doha: Science India Forum-Qatar (SIFQ), an affiliated organisation of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), functioning under the aegis of the Embassy of India, announced the winners of Qatar Children’s Science Congress 2021.
In a statement, SIFQ said that its activities has been recognised by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Every year SIFQ conducts Children’s Science congress based on the guidelines of National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) organised by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication, DST, India.
Qatar Children’s Science Congress (QCSC), is a unique hands-on activity where students undertake a project on a focal & sub-theme, work on a local, socially-relevant problem, and using methods of science, come out with definite (yet simple, practical, innovative and inexpensive) conclusion /solution.
Children acquire various skills sets which mainly include observation, measurement, classification, estimation, prediction, interpretation, critical thinking, creative thinking, drawing conclusion and team work. Participating students carry out a science project under the guidance of a guide, based on the NCSC’s theme and validate by established scientific methodologies. This year, QCSC started in September 2021.
Overall, 88 teams participated in both junior and senior categories. The projects were evaluated by team of 30 eminent scientists, academicians and professionals from Qatar, at all qualifying levels. There were an elimination rounds at the second and third stages.
