DOHA: Doha is gearing up to host the ninth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026), a premier global defence and security event, set to take place from January 19 to 22, 2026 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

Held under the esteemed patronage of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and organised and hosted by the Qatar Armed Forces, the four-day exhibition is poised to be the largest and most influential edition in its history.

With the theme “A Global Hub for Defence Innovations: Invest in Possibilities to Shape a Secure Tomorrow,” DIMDEX 2026 will once again draw an elite gathering of military leaders, government officials, ministers, industry executives, and experts from around the world. This biennial event has evolved far beyond its maritime roots, now embracing cutting-edge technologies across air, land, and sea domains to address evolving global security challenges.

Organisers say DIMDEX 2026 will be the largest edition to date, featuring more than 200 international and national companies and eight national pavilions, showcasing the latest innovations in defence technology, systems, equipment, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. This marks a significant expansion from previous years and underscores Qatar’s growing role as a strategic hub for defence cooperation.

In a key development aimed at enhancing accessibility, DIMDEX has introduced a new online registration and accreditation system in partnership with the Ministry of Interior. This integrated platform not only streamlines entry for visitors and exhibitors but also automatically processes Hayya visa applications for international participants, eliminating the need for separate submissions through the Hayya portal.

The event’s growing international stature is reflected in its lineup of sponsors and strategic partners. The advanced technology group EDGE has been confirmed as the Main Sponsor for DIMDEX 2026. Fincantieri has been confirmed as Diamond Sponsor and Al Abdulghani Motors as Platinum Sponsor. Gold Sponsors include Barzan Holdings, MBDA and Ooredoo, while Estithmar Holding and Vodafone Qatar are Silver Sponsors.

Qatar Media Corporation serves as the National Media Sponsor, with Boeing and CAE participating as Supporting Sponsors, reflecting the exhibition’s broad global industry backing.

Each DIMDEX edition also features the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), a platform for in-depth discussions on the latest regional and international developments in maritime defence and security, while facilitating the exchange of expertise, perspectives, and forward-looking insights that shape the future of the sector.

This year, MENC will convene under the theme “Defence Diplomacy and Maritime Security Challenges”. The conference will serve as an academic platform to examine the intersection of defence diplomacy and maritime security, and to develop strategies aimed at enhancing stability at sea. It will also highlight the importance of multilateral frameworks in securing critical sea lanes and safeguarding nations’ economic and strategic interests.

In addition, visiting warships from international navies will be berthed at Hamad Port throughout the four days of DIMDEX 2026. Registered participants will be able to visit the warships.
