DOHA: More than 14,000 Qatari students have so far benefited from the educational voucher programme this academic year, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has disclosed. The programme allows Qatari children to pursue education in 32 private schools with state support. Each student will get amounts up to QR28,000 to pay their school fees.
For children of Qatari government employees, the respective ministries and government departments will pay the fees, while SEC will pay on behalf of children of Qataris working with private companies, independent schools and other SEC sections. SEC will also pay on behalf of those students whose parents are not employed.
All government institutions have already released the first installment of the voucher amounts, benefiting a total of 14,413 students, Al Sharq reported yesterday, quoting a SEC official.
