Qatar pioneer in combating terrorism, says Iraqi parliamentarian

Doha: HE Jawad Al Bolani, a member of the security and defense committee in the Iraqi Parliament, affirmed that the State of Qatar is a pioneer in the field of combating terrorism and has presented exemplary hosting and organizing of important global events and conferences in cooperation with the specialized offices of the United Nations and its brothers from the Arab countries and its friends from the region.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the parliamentary policy dialogue on border security in the context of counter-terrorism in Doha, Al Bolani said that Qatar has given a pioneering and unique model in taking the lead in initiatives and events that enhance the capabilities of countries and activate their return to UN community to unite the world view to confront terrorism and extremism.

He pointed out that the United Nations and parliamentary unions can contribute to addressing issues of border security, stability of countries and preventing the infiltration of terrorists, stressing the importance of these meetings since parliamentarians represent their people and care about their issues.

The member of the Iraqi parliament's security and defense committee reviewed the effects of terrorism and its repercussions on his country, pointing out that Iraq was subjected to a fierce attack but it insisted on proving its existence as a state through its commitment to combating terrorism, as the Iraqis faced this with strength and patience. He added that his country signed memorandums of understanding with some Arab countries and has completed and ratified the Arab strategy to combat terrorism, and it is engaged in the international strategy to combat terrorism at the global level.
