DOHA: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has successfully completed a major improvement project in Mesaimeer health care centre. This move aims to mark the beginning of progressive changes currently underway within the PHCC.
Dr Mariam Abdul Malik, Managing Director of PHCC, extended PHCC’s and her own gratitude to the Minister of Health H E Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani for his support and direct involvement through his visits to the centre and his dedication to the success of the project.
The Managing Director of PHCC praised the effort of all staff members to make these improvements in record time and with highest standards, while juggling other daily activities.
The group in charge of carrying the makeover project was led by Dr Durriya Al Qahtani and made sure that the project stayed on track and with minimum service disruption.
“Our patients are our priority and we listen to their comments and needs. This improvement project is a result of that two-way communication and we confirmed the basic principles behind the primary health care such as community participation, health workforce development, use of appropriate technology and multi-sectional approach,” said Dr Al Qahtani. Mesaimeer health care centre now offers easy access to the vaccination clinic with minimum wait time through the use of Qmatic machines as well as redesigned vaccination rooms that now accommodate more service stations. Qatari nationals also have ‘nationals only’ vaccination day on Thursday mornings.
School health clinic in its fully renovated section offers modern consulting rooms, special audiology and optometry rooms, as well as dental clinics. The well-baby clinic doubled its capacity and is now offering full service for the youngest citizens.
PHCC is operating through 23 primary health care centres distributed into three regions, namely Central, Western, and Northern. Thirteen of these centres are located in Doha city, while the rest are located in populated areas in all parts of the country in order to provide a wide variety of different types of health care services that depend on the location and needs of each area throughout a set of objectives.
The set of objectives focuses on keeping the health of population, and prevention from diseases, in addition to patient diagnosis and treatment, and the provision of a long-term and constant support to patients and their families from infants to the elderly, children, adults, married couples, and mothers.
