DOHA: Several new clinics with different specialisations have started to function at the Al Wakra Hospital (AWH) — a member of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
The new clinics include one on neurology, besides a range of evening clinics.
The Neurology Clinic offers comprehensive consultation, evaluation, and treatment for all kinds of neurological problems that result from disorders in the nervous system, such as muscle weakness, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, movement disorders and dizziness. The clinic is managed by Dr Abbas Elsiddig Khalid El Hadi, Consultant Neurologist, and is open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7.30am to 12noon.
The clinic is part of the Outpatient Department at AWH and can be accessed following referral from either a Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) physician or an HMC physician via an internal referral.
In some cases, referrals from physicians at private healthcare facilities may also be accepted. This new service covers emergency cases at AWH that need urgent neurological consultation and support.
“Since the opening of this clinic, we have already provided neurology consultation to more than 35 patients and we are receiving more patients each day. We receive all kinds of neurology cases. However, the most common cases include patients with stroke and epilepsy,” Dr Elsiddig said.
In addition, AWH has also announced the opening of evening clinics for some of its high-demand clinical services like orthopaedics, respiratory/pulmonary, oral and maxillofacial, gastrointestinal, urology, nephrology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), dermatology, and cardiology. The hospital will also start evening clinics for general surgery and physiotherapy.
These clinics are intended to decrease appointment waiting time for patients and also accommodate more patients. The hours of operation for these clinics are from 3pm to 5pm from Sunday through Thursday.
AWH now offers valet parking for patients, families, and visitors in an effort to create a more user-friendly hospital experience.
