Doha: Aspire Zone Foundation’s (AZF) annual Ramadan festival, “Welcome to Aspire” wrapped up its activities over the weekend with a game of beach football.

Al Raheeb won first place after beating team Gharafa 3-1, with team Mutheir coming in third.

Medals and vouchers were awarded to the winners by Head of Sports and Events at Aspire Logistics, Abdullah Al Khater.

Al Khater said: “This festival has worked to provide an opportunity for athletes and non-athletes to participate and try to adapt a healthy lifestyle during the holy month of Ramadan. One of the fundamental objectives for us is to provide a community-based service that reaches to all sectors of the society.”

This year’s festival, now in its third year, witnessed seven different sports, 45 teams and 515 participants with over 100 people working on to make it a success.

It also featured cultural and family-orientated events such as Garangao activities.

Sports activities included football, basketball, women’s volleyball, American football and beach football. The winning teams were Al Andalus, Sustainable Energy, Aktar, Doha Gargarz, and Al Raheeb.

Eid Mohammed Ismail, team captain of Al Raheeb said: “We are extremely happy that our team won. Thanks to Aspire who provided all means of comfort to the success of the competition. We hope to see more events of this kind after Ramadan.”

Before the final whistle on July 28, the women’s volleyball championship concluded on Saturday with team Aktar taking first place after beating I Love Qatar 30-16.

The volleyball championship was limited only to ladies, to encourage more women to participate in the festival.
